Elia is a beautiful village spread on a verdant, green slope with aromatic plants and colorful flowers, with age-old olives and locusts and looks like a small village hidden in the Cretan nature. At the entrance of the village is the central square which is paved with cobblestones and there, during the summer months, hosts various events and parties with food and dance, gathering many visitors locals and foreigners.
In the center of the village is the church of Agios Panteleimon, which dates back to 1911, and is the patron saint of the village. Every year on July 27, a festival of Saint Panteleimon is organized.
One of the important points of interest for the visitor, on the eastern slopes of the valley of Karteros, is the cave of Eilithia or fairy cave. Just outside the cave, buildings of the 14th and 13th century BC were found. which according to Marinatos were the residences of the priests.
